I wonder what October will bring?

September is over

I went to the Women’s social at Church Saturday evening and I had a great time. However, I must have over done things. I was not able to go to Church today. But other than that I am doing really well.

I do have a question for any in the medical world. Do any of you know of anything that can be done to keep my skin from being irritated by the “glue” used on dressing? They put a sterile dressing over the port needle for my pain medication and it causes my skin to break out in a rash and it itches like hell. If any of you know of any way that my skin could be treated before this dressing is put on please let me know and I will check with my nurse and compare it to the things we have already tried.

I am sorry if no post last night caused any of you to worry about me. I hoped that if I went straight to bed after getting home from the social that I would have been able to attend Church today, but it just didn’t work out. I am sure the Lord knows that I wanted to go and so things are just fine. I believe in a very compassionate loving God, if you believe in God I hope you view him the same way.

May we all have a great week in the coming days. I love hearing from you now and again. So when you get the chance please drop me a line.

The lump on my neck has changed

Reason to be concerned

I guess I have reason to worry.  However, I want you all to understand that I was told to expect the tumor on my neck to change from time to time. So this is not completely unexpected.  Last Friday I did not see my usual nurse but she came to see me today and she agreed that the tumor on my neck has changed. So next Friday, I have an appointment with my primary cancer doctor. I hope they can do more radiation therapy on me. I guess I could use some more prayers. Of course, I am a bit worried. But otherwise I feel fine.

Nothing exciting happened today. My third shelf is now half done. But emptying boxes is not something I call exciting.  But I did do it. Three fourths of what I looked at today I ended up throwing out. I have a good size pile of paper that I need to shred. That will keep me busy for a day or two.  I am all for recycling when I can.

I hope someone out there has had a more interesting day than I did.

My very dear friends and family members please do NOT be alarmed by this news. All any of you can do is to keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

The van double crossed us and will cost us more money, rats!

Double crossed

The van has double crossed us. We have to replace some sort of sensor, but hopefully we can drive it until Frank can work on it on Monday.  And, of course, this means more money, that ole money pit strikes again.

Other than van I have had a good day, I went through a box again today, which puts me on the 3rd shelf. Mom and I watched a kids movie; The Chronicles of Narnia; The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.  We didn’t get to really enjoy it because we kept getting interrupted. With the things that got done for us it was well worth the interruptions.

Frank came by and he helped us by weed whacking our entire yard. This past summer was so crazy that Brooke and I never got a chance to get any yard work done.  What grows in our yard, (not grass), had gotten very tall and no lawn mower would have gotten through it. The yard looks real good now.

There were a couple of other things that I would have liked to have gotten done today, but they will wait until tomorrow without it being a problem. The biggest thing is that I did manage to pace myself and not overdue.

I hope that each of my friends and family have also had a good day and have been able to get done the things that were most important to them for this day.

My hole in the driveway

My Money Pit

I have a family member, who use to, talk way over my head. He is brilliant and much better educated than I am. But one thing he said when I was young was he said was that “a car is a hole in the driveway that you keep putting money into” That is one thing I did understand. He is so right about it.  BUT my car problem turned out not to be very expensive a total of $50.00, my son had to do a few things to the car but the big problem was to change the idle setting. That is a great price.

Today I got a big surprise from the RMV. On October 20th my license is going to be suspended. The notice they sent me says for: complaint medical. I looked it up on the RMV website and because I could be a danger driving while taking my medication they will suspend my license. It seems that because I take a controlled narcotic for my pain must be reported to them and then you have to turn in your driver’s license. So I am going to call the RMV and see if I turn in my license and get a State ID, if that will resolve the issue.  I think that will solve this little problem. I will print out the needed form and fill it out before I go to the local registry to do it.  But this was a big surprise getting a notice from them, I haven’t driven in over 4 or 5 months. But my car is still on the road so they don’t know that.  I think that it is good that they are trying to protect the people by getting people like me off the road before we can hurt anyone.

Isn’t life crazy?

Can you imagine not having running water in your home?

NO WATER AT OUR HOUSE!

The day was going nice and quietly and then around 5pm Mom came out of the bathroom to tell me that we have NO WATER! I had learned just an hour before that the van had broke down and may cost us a lot to get it fixed! Considering that we had to buy a pair of tires on Friday a broke down van was not good news. Then thinking about having no water! Mom and I were near a panic.

Now we have well water so there were three possible problems, worsts would be the well going dry, bad the pump being broken or the best problem, a blown circuit breaker. The Lord blessed us, it was the circuit breaker, so I was able to fix it!

I think overall it has been a good day, but I am still waiting to hear about the van. It looks like we need an alternator and my son will fix it tomorrow.

This is a new Week

A new week

Today is the start of a new week. So far it is going better than last week. The biggest thing is I feel better than I did last week. But I think it will take a few more days before I really feel good.

I have completed clearing off one shelf of my old closet, today I started on a second shelf. This is great, I feel great about my progress. I know that there is a LOT more for me to go through, but I have to keep the entire project down to reasonable sizes that I can work on. That is just what I am doing.

A good friend of mine, from Texas, who has been in town for a few days, finally got a chance to stop by and we had a delightful visit.  I truly enjoyed Jennifer’s visit, and the length of time she stayed was just right. Right after she left I was able to take a nap, which I realize I need daily.
