Halloween Update

Happy Halloween

I hope all trick or treated safely tonight. Being back in the woods like we are very few come to our door. We had a mermaid and a purple fairy stop by. That was a lot of fun, but be sure they were family so they knew they were safe.

Medically there is nothing new to report other than it seems I have a few more tumors than I did a few days ago. I guess that is to be expected.

We were spared the effects of Super Storm Sandy, so no news to report there either. So I just sit here and gladly count my blessings. I hope you are able to count blessings also.

Hurricane Sandy made land very south of me.

The wind has continued to get stronger all day long. But so far we are doing just fine no power failure here. We are not very worried about this storm Sandy. I feel no need to give any of you a weather report.

Seeing has I have woke up every morning for over a week with a stomach ache I have decided to reduce the amount of formula I am taking in tonight. I also noticed yesterday that the size of my “belly button” hernia has more than doubled; actually it is about 4 times what is was. I don’t know if it is all hernia, or if it is a tumor around the hernia. When I see my doctors we will need to check it out.

There isn’t much else to tell you so I will say good night. I pray that all of you safe.

Sunday before Hurricane Sandy

Dear Friends & Family

It is 9 pm on Sunday and I believe that our home is prepared for Hurricane Sandy. Now we sit and wait to see just what will happen.

I have had a quiet day with nothing new to report.  I have enjoyed a quiet day. I hope all of you have done the same. I also hope that you have done all that you need to do to be prepared for this storm. I am also praying that this storm turns out to be not as bad as they expect it to be. I am prepared for the worst and pray for the best we can hope to have.

I have nothing else to tell you about so I will post this and pray that I can post again tomorrow sometime.

The Friday before Hurrican Sandy

Wow, that is what I have to say about our local electric company. Month’s ago I register has a customer who requires electricity for my health care, due to being on oxygen. They called and left a message asking us to be sure to be prepared for a power failure. Yesterday, my VNA nurse had called me on her day off to make sure I am prepared. I believe that I have about everything I need should we have a failure. There are a couple of items that we need but we will get them tomorrow.

People in the area are getting ready for Hurricane Sandy. We are supposed to be hit by this storm sometime Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

I hope each of you are prepared if you live in the path of Hurricane Sandy.

Because I believe we are as prepared as we can be I am not worried.  The day has been very quiet which is nice. I know tomorrow will not be quiet. The men from Church will be here to finish putting in the sidewalk. Then sometime after that my son Don will be here to finish installing the lamp for the sidewalk a light in our bathroom.

Frank just came by and put some sort of goop on the pipes to the bathroom sink to stop a leak so when the new light gets put in the room will be all done. This is a great thing. It has taken a long time to get it all done, but I am sure it will be worth it. The same will be true with the sidewalk project.

Quiet day, but I will be glad when the sidewalk is done.

Today has been a good day. Although, I had a panic first thing this morning, I thought that my pain medication was going to run out on me. But I called the VNA and a great nurse came over and changed the cassette of medication at 8 am. Therefore the crisis was averted.  I am having new pain caused from the cancer. It is across my back between my shoulder blades.

The sidewalk is coming along very nicely. Two of my sons are working on putting in the lamp that Mom wants out by the sidewalk.  They have had a few little problems, but they have been able to work them all it. Having people here in the dark working on the sidewalk is driving me nuts so I will be glad when it is done. I know it is just me. By evening I am in pain and tired. I really am grateful to all of those who have come over to help Mom and I.  I don't think I am back to myself from being in the hospital last Saturday. Sorry world.

I don’t know why but I am getting very tired early in the evening. I am in a lot of pain this evening. The bolus’ are working just not fast enough. The same was true last night I hope that I have not been too much of a crab.    So I guess I will be going to bed earlier for a while. But that is not a bad thing.

The sidewalk is coming along.

Today has been quieter than I expected it to be. We currently have a group of boys here who range in age from 12 to 18 and their dad’s preparing the sidewalk so that it can be poured on Saturday. I should tell you that it is after 7 pm in New England and very dark outside. Thank goodness for spotlights that are in use out there. They seem to know what they are doing and Mom and I are staying in the house totally out of the way.

I have had a very good day. Monday evening I really made a mess in my room so that they could set up the oxygen machines. Pacing myself it took a couple of hours today to get the room back into descent shape. I had thought that it would take a lot longer than it did. I guess it looked worse than it was.

Tomorrow my VNA nurse needs to be here by noon or I will have to change the pain cassette myself. I know how to do it but they are not ready to let me do it without them here to watch me.

It is now 8:30 and the work crew has left in the dark I can’t tell just how much they got done. I also don’t know exactly what they were doing so even in the daylight tomorrow I won’t know what I am looking at.
