Very sleepy day for me, maybe I should be called sleepy after the dwarf

Today has been a nice and quiet day, but when you spend a great deal of time sleeping it is easy to be quiet. That is how I passed the day. I am hoping that I will have more energy next week after I get onto the different pain medication.  Sadly I don’t think I will have enough energy to go to Church tomorrow. That brings me down, going to Church, builds me up in many ways, I love the teachings of the Lord, and I truly get a great deal out of socializing with my friends there.

I want you to know that I am in good spirits, just very sleepy.  If people stop by to see me I am glad to see them, I just have trouble staying awake. It is now time for me to take my evening medications and get ready to go to bed. (Which means it is between 8-9pm) I look forward to a change in my sleep habits. That may take a few weeks because just about a week ago the doctors and I made 3 or 4 changes to my medications and my feeding with another change is being made again on Monday.

Sunday and Monday I may post very little if at all. So don’t panic. I may just say that I am alive and sleepy and then say good-night.

Good-nite now.

Black Friday in my life

BLACK Friday, Hi everyone, yesterday was a wonderful day. I spent 6 hours at my younger brothers’ house with family. They fixed two turkeys, one the traditional way and the other was wrapped in bacon, yes, I said bacon. The one with bacon was moister and if you like the hint of bacon on your turkey you will like it.

Now six hours from home did take a lot out of me. Cookie, (my VNA nurse), came to see me today. We agreed that my current pain medication is not working for me. So on Monday we are changing my medication. Now relax we have very good reasons for waiting until Monday. Too many people have taken today and the weekend off.  Cookie wants to be able to talk to the right people before we even start to make the change. She will NOT take a chance of putting me in uncontrollable pain. She explained her plain in great detail and I am in full agreement with her plan to do this.  Because she is waiting until Monday she has made some changes in my current pain management to keep me as comfortable as she can between now and then. I understand and agree with what she is doing and I would not have it any other way.  Please be happy for me about this.

NOTICE: I do not live anywhere near the gas explosion that happened at about 5:30 today November 23, 2012, in Springfield, MA. In fact Mom and I did not even feel anything from it, we are just fine! I had just got up before the gas explosion. Mom had just turned on the TV news.  We have no plans to leave the house! I feel bad for the people who live and work in the area of this explosion. The news is not covering anything but this story. I wonder just how many apartments are involved in this event.

Now to get back to my nurses visit; she instructed me to spend the entire day resting. I have followed her instruction. She came at lunch time and we had a great weekly visit. Other than being tired I am doing just fine.

The day before the Turkey

I saw my primary care doctor this morning and she says that I am looking great and that those at the clinic and at oncology also feel that I am amazing. They just can’t believe how I am fighting this cancer. I just don’t understand why they are amazed at me. I just don’t give up, I just keep fighting. Only our Heavenly Father can say when it is my time to go back to live with him. I printed out a complete report from my medical history bracelet and gave it to my doctor, Ingrid, she was very excited about looking at it. She is going to have the staff scan the report into my file and she is going to send me a copy of my shot record. Then I will enter it into my bracelet.

Today’s tag is very simple, but very good, it reads:

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

I believe that very much and this is where He has brought me so here I am fighting what I hope is I righteous fight for life.

I do NOT plan to post anything on my blog on Thanksgiving Day. I feel that the day is going to take too much out of me. And I think that my friends and family that will not be with me, will have more to do than check on me so have a great day and look for a post on Friday. It is my hope and prayer that you all have a great day and find plenty to be thankful for.

Seeing a good friend in the morning, my doctor

This has been a very quiet day and the pain that I had in my back from yesterday is slowly going away. First thing in the morning I see my primary care doctor. She is a real gem and I look forward to seeing her. Ingrid truly cares about her patients and you can’t help but know it. I don’t have a lot of questions for her because Jingjing, my cancer doctor covers most of my care, but it is always great to touch base with Ingrid.

I don’t have anything to tell for today. Which in my mind is a good thing; I like quiet and peaceful days. I hope your lives have been blessed with quiet days also.

The thief struck again and got away with my strength

Today, my strength ran away. I needed to clean the two filters to the oxygen concentrator and put fresh water in the cup for it. To clean the filters it requires moving the machine. It sits on a carpet, not a good thing; I just don’t have the strength to do that anymore.  I am sad to say that I need to have help to do this simple task. It took so much out of me that I could not do anything else all day long. I hate being in P A I N  but then don’t we all? The lack of strength and new aches and pains are all that are new today, but I think I have said enough about them.

I really like the quote that was on today’s tag it reads:

“Your journey has molded you for your greater good, and it was exactly what it needed to be. Don’t think that you’ve lost time. It took each and every situation you have encountered to bring you to the now. And now, is right on time.” Asha Tyson

These tags have been a great addition to the balloons. I have no idea where she up with the idea, but it is a great one. I can now think of a lot of ways this could be used.  It could be used has part of a treasure hunt.  Or, a way to build up to a big surprise for a kid. Using the tags has a way to cheer me up for a few days of course is my favorite use, but I am sure we can all see why.

I pray that each and every one of you have had less pain than I have today. I also pray that tomorrow is better for all of us.

There is a THIEF in the house named PAIN !

Today, pain has been a thief. You are most likely saying what has it stolen from Suzie. The answer is attending Church on Sunday’s. The slightest bump in the road puts my pain level up to at least on 8 on the doc’s ole scale of 0 to 10, (zero, none at all & ten, off the wall). By the time we arrived at Church I was at a 10, I was at an 8 before we got of my road. For those who have never been here, from my house half way up the road is a dirt road full of ruts. It needs to be graded, but the city won’t do that. So I either go to the Springfield Building, instead of the Ludlow Building, or I just stay home and watch something on TV and have the sacrament brought to me every couple of weeks. I have not made up my mind. Going to the Springfield Building would still have me riding over the worst part of the roads, my own road! Gladly I don’t have to make up my mind right now, I can take all week to think and pray about what is best for me.

After Church today I have gone back to bed, but first I took another tag off of the arrangement of balloons, it reads:

Why do we close our eyes when we pray, cry, kiss, dream?  Because the most beautiful things in life are not seen but felt only by the heart.

Oh, how true! I have no idea where Jackie came up with all of these sayings but so far I think they are great. I hope you are enjoying them right along with me.

I am sorry that today’s post is on a down note, but I have felt all along that it should be a true reflection of what my life is like. I hope that I am not wearing my heart on my sleeve, but instead just telling things as they really are.
