A good day for me.

Today in light of what happened in Newtown, CT., I am wonderful, fabulous, great, outstanding etc. My heart goes out to the people of that town and the families that lost their little ones. But my blog is NOT where I want to say much of anything about current events, so enough said.

I saw my oncologist today and she examined my hip and agrees that it is healing nicely I just need to put a heating pad on the bruise to help the tissue to reabsorb the blood faster. I had developed a rash by the G-tube and that was taken care of.

I am feeling very good and my appetite is coming back and I am putting on a few pounds. That is a good thing I don’t want to get to thin.

I broke the pain pump!!!

Today I saw the doctor at the clinic to follow up on my fall and he said that the bruise is healing very well.

I also told him about the breathing problem I had earlier this week and he checked my lungs on a lower amount of O2 down from 3 ltrs to 2 ltrs. and agreed that I only need it set at 2 ltrs. If I needed it any higher in the future I am to turn it up and then get in and be checked by the doctors again. They might need to do another CT scan of my lungs to see what has changed.

While at the clinic a social worker came in to see how I am doing and got very upset that I do NOT have a PCA (personal care assistant) at this time. Brooke and I explained what she does for me and she said that Brooke should get paid to do that through Stavros. She gave Brooke the numbers and told her to call for an application and if she needs any help with the form to come and see her and she will help Brooke. My condition has changed a lot since we tried this in February or March and the social worker is certain that I qualify.

Then when I got home I did a bad thing.  The tubing to my pain pump got stuck on something in the kitchen slipped out of my hand fell to the floor and the cassette broke off from the pump. So here I sit with NO pain medication! A new pump and cassette are on their way so I am resting very quietly trying to keep my pain level very low. This happened at about 1:15 this afternoon it is now 3:30 and I am doing okay so far.
Hurrah! Cindy one of the VNA nurses went and picked up the new pump and cassette and came directly over to me and go me all set with the pain medication.  Right after she left at about 7pm I went to bed and now it is 10:30 and I am awake, not unusual for me, and the pain had gotten up to a 6 and is now down to a 2! I knew that if I gave myself some extra medication used the heating pad and got some sleep the pain would come down.  The Lord blessed me and it worked. I am so thankful that I was able to get a new pump and cassette in the same day and have the pain get knocked down so quickly. What a great age we live in.
Brooke is home from work and told me that she was able to get things started for me to have a PCA. I am very glad that she moved on that so quickly.
God has truly blessed me, the last two weeks have been very trying ones, however, I am very pleased with how things are “falling” into place to get me the help that I need along with the care that I require.  The Lord has helped me to have peace of mind through most of this even when I have not known just how things were going to work out. I now pray that He will give the rest of you the same peace of mind about my welfare. I don’t want my friends and loved ones to worry about me when I am not worried about myself. It is truly wonderful how much peace I get from the simple act of praying to the Lord.

Doctor follow up on my hip

Just has I planned I kept my O2 on 3 lts all day today and my breathing has been great. I still have some pain across my back, but if I was starting to form a blood clot than I think the pain is normal. I have also been careful about pacing my activity all day.

There is less pain in my left hip but I can’t tell if the swelling has gone down or not because I can’t see it.  But either way I feel better than I did a week ago.

Tomorrow I go and see my primary doctor and I will have her check out both my hip and my lungs. However, I am not worried about either.

Blood clot scare, but turned out to be nothing

I spent today a little concerned about blood clots in my lungs today. I was having trouble breathing until I turned my oxygen from 2 ltrs to 3 ltrs. Withing 2 hours of that change I noticed a large change. I have not needed to make any other change to my oxygen which is a very good thing. The last time I had this problem they told me to adjust it until I got up to 5 ltrs., if I had gotten that high then I was to call my nurse. I see my primary doctor on Thursday Morning so I am sure I will be just fine.

They had me off my blood thinner from last Wednesday until yesterday, I think that is going to make a big change in my life.

Photo's to be posted for your review of my hip

There is nothing new to tell you about today about my health.  However, my Mom had an interesting idea. She thought I would find it interesting to see a picture of what everyone locally can see of my hip and back side. It is all behind me so I don’t see any of it I can only feel it. So (fully dressed), she had my son take a picture of just how large it has swollen. She also thought others who aren’t in town might be interested in seeing it. So I will attach 2 photos of it and hope it helps you understand just how bad a fall I took.

But I want to ask you to please remember two things these photos are a full week after my fall and that I am recovering very well according to the doctors.

Trust me I never thought that a picture of my hip would be interesting to anyone, but I never expected to take such a nasty fall either.  I think the top picture shows the difference in the two sides best.

I hope all of you are having a good day. I am having one the pain in my left hip is getting better each day.

A great day for visitors and we had just that.

Sunday has been a lovely day even if we did stay home from Church. I still have a sore throat. I needed to stay home and rest. We did listen to the Church lesson for Sunday School on our Ruko devise and totally enjoyed it.  The professors have become like ole friends we welcome into our home each day. We love how they make each of the ancient prophets seem like old friends of theirs. And that they love to teach about them, and what they want us to know for our day and time

It is great to be able to sit in our home and study the scriptures, doing it at our own pace. I am developing a much greater love for the ancient prophets from both the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I am gaining a greater appreciation of the Lord Jesus’ love for me and you and that gives great comfort to me.  Learning these scriptures gives me greater peace has I face my own death. I wish every person on earth could come to know just how much the Lord Jesus Christ loves him or her and wants the best for each of us. I am sure that there would be greater peace on earth.

Mom and I had company, first from the Presidency of our Relief Society; it is great that they came to see how we are doing. They brought us a Poinsettia plant, and a turkey pot pie. Then my Home Teacher came to give me the monthly message from the prophet on service to the Lord. Then our neighbor Eddie stopped in with some tangerines, he was given more than he could eat, so he is sharing them with us.

The sore throat that has kept me home in bed is starting to go away, but I think it will take a few more days before it is completely healed. But I have no appointments so I should be able to give my body the rest it is calling for. The best to all of you.
